  • If your payment transaction was not processed, you will need to complete your booking form again. When completing the booking form, please ensure that all fields have been completed correctly, the phone number is entered as one number (ie 0215555555, not 021 555 5555) and you have agreed to the event terms & conditions. Please note: Your booking will not be confirmed until your payment has been received. You will receive a confirmation email if your booking has been successful. If you are still having problems, please email us at housetours@nzhouseandgarden.co.nz and send us a screenshot/image of the error message.

  • You can update your guest's details via you booking account. Login to your booking account here using the email address and password that you created on your booking. Then click on the Your tickets button and add your guest's details. Please update your guest's details at least two weeks prior to the tour date. All ticket holders will need to take the tickets with them on the day (digital or printed), along with photo ID (passport, driver’s licence etc.) which must match the name on the tickets.

  • If you’ve already purchased your tickets, you can still add additional extras to your existing booking. Just log into your booking account here, select your tour date and add your items on the Additional Extras page of the booking form. No need to select more tour tickets on the first page of the booking form. You can just click on the next button at the bottom of the tickets page to go to the Additional Extras page.

Starting House & Address Queries

  • You will receive maps and street addresses of each of the houses one week prior to the Tour date, when your official tickets are issued. This will allow adequate time to plan your day and is to protect the privacy of the homeowners.

  • To ensure you are allocated the same starting house as your friends, we recommend you do one group booking. When registering, you will be able to select one starting house for the group. If registering separately, be sure to select the same starting house as your friend. If you book separately, we will do our best to accommodate your request to begin the tour together, but unfortunately it’s not something that we can guarantee.

Please note: Starting houses are allocated at random and no addresses are provided until you receive your official tickets. To avoid congestion, you must begin the tour at the starting house that you have been allocated on your ticket. If you arrive at a different starting house other than specified on your ticket, you will be turned away for health and safety reasons.

  • Please email us with all your details and advise us which tour you have booked for and which starting house you would like. Please note: due to the nature of the tours and the size of the houses, there is limited capacity at each starting house. If your requested starting house number is not available, we will let you know or a random number will be allocated. No changes to starting houses will be done after official tickets are issued.

Tour Queries

  • To begin your tour day, head to the starting house allocated on your ticket. Here you will be required to show photo ID (passport or driver's licence), which must match the name on your ticket. We accept both printed and digital tickets. You will then receive your wristband, allowing you to enter the homes for the rest of the day. You will also receive a shoe bag as footwear is not permitted in the houses, as well as the link to the House Tours online tour guide detailing everything you need to know about the houses you’ll be visiting including maps, what’s happening at the House Tour Hub, information about our sponsors, and more. Please note we do not provide printed maps or handbooks as part of our sustainable practices.

  • The tour runs from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Last entry permitted to the houses will be at 3:45PM.

  • No. We want to ensure that there is no damage done to the houses, so a strict 'no shoes policy' will be enforced - only socks or bare feet. Shoe bags will be provided to ticket holders on the day. We recommend you wear lightweight comfy shoes that you can easily slip on and off as you will carry those yourself.

  • Unfortunately, the houses on the tours are not wheelchair, walking stick, walking frame, mobility scooter or other mobility aid accessible.

  • Unfortunately, no babies or children (under the age of 16) are permitted to attend the NZ House & Garden Tour. Please note, this also applies for pets, including service-animals.

  • There will be bathrooms located at the Hub for you to use. We will also mark any public bathrooms on the tour maps that can be used throughout the day. Please note that all bathrooms in the homes are unavailable for tour goers to use.

  • Food and beverage consumption is strictly prohibited inside the homes out of respect for the homeowners.
